Public Meetings Market Evangelism

Quarterly public meetings for evangelism are scheduled in markets within the vicinity of the Church location. In these evangelism public meetings, young leaders with a call to God’s service are coached, nurtured to support their evangelism and leadership potential thus creating a bench for future evangelists. This has been effective in making the neighbouring community know much about saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Orphans, Widows & Foster Care

Efforts have been channelled towards taking care of the orphaned kids and Widows of the Church. This ministry has over the period been made possible by the support received from Romance Church of Christ and Friends affiliated with Tommy Bush.

There are number of orphaned kids who the Church has found it more appropriate to place them under foster care of Church family members. This has been effective in making the kids have a safe and Christian environment which supports their wellbeing without any setbacks.

Re-modelling of Dwellings

Re-modelling of dwellings is undertaken for orphaned kids being hosted by foster families. These re-modelling are designed to grant the orphaned kid space within the existing foster family home. This effort goes to improving the roofing structure, creating space for an extra room for the orphaned child or installing a water tank for harvesting rain water. One to at most two dwellings are targeted for improvement each calendar year.

Under-resourced Kids Feeding

The circumstances surrounding the under-resourced kids deprive them of meals which are essential for their survival. These kids are fed morning meals on Sunday morning and further, food rations are given to their families once a month to ensure that they stay healthy.

Famine Relief & Sharing

Famine has been a recurring event due to failure of rains. Though members work hard on their farms, famine relief has been given to members in the form of food rations monthly over the drought period which in many occasions has lasted six months annually between harvesting seasons. This has often helped save lives despite witnessing death of their livestock. Food stuff in the form of packages of rice, cooking oil, maize flour and beans are gifted which have a long shelf-life. The sharing involves church members bringing together items (especially clothing) which they don’t need in their homes and these are gifted to those in need.

Church Gardening & Borehole

Drip irrigation systems were installed which distribute the Borehole water. The borehole was drilled and installed with the support of funds from Romance Church of Christ, Tommy & Martha Bush and their friends. This has indeed given a breath of life to an area which has not had access to piped water over the years. The borehole water helps support church gardening where vegetables are grown and these are shared with church members. The borehole water is also given to the Church members for drinking.

Sunday School

The Sunday school program runs every Sunday from 8.00am-9.30am. In most cases, the Sunday school teachers have been adult sisters of the Church and are supported by the youth who are inducted gradually into this role.

Medical Clinics

Medical clinics are now held twice a year targeting the most in need services which the Church members require. In the Covid-19 pandemic era, there has been need for asthma, diabetes and blood pressure support management services and general wellness health programs.

IT Learning Centre

The learning centre is used by the youth to learn IT applications. There is a shift to organize coding clinics for the youth from Church and the community.

There are about 12 computer work stations already installed and used by Church youth to enhance their IT skills and research which helps with their academics.

Poultry Keeping

Fifty poultry are currently kept for production of eggs. In the year 2017/18 there was a massive outbreak of chicken disease which wiped out the entire stock, though the church has been able to re-stock the Chicken. The eggs are sold to the Community and plans are at an advanced stage to start making feeds for them instead of buying and this will open the door to increase the stock levels so as to enjoy economies of scale.

Sewing

Four sewing machines are in great working condition and are in use. The wife of one of the Church evangelist is trained in garment making and has been instrumental in leading teams which are trained in sewing. School uniforms targeting the neighbouring schools have been made by those teams. Clothes of the church members which require repairs are done through the efforts of the sewing machines team.
